Jocelyne Boissonneault’s practice focuses on helping her clients navigate the criminal and forensic mental health system. She represents individuals who have been found not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder, appearing as both counsel and court-appointed amicus curiae before the Ontario Review Board.
Jocelyne received her law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1998 and began her career practicing Health Law at a large Canadian firm. She then moved to California, where she learned to surf and practiced Intellectual Property litigation in Silicon Valley from 2001 to 2004. Since returning home to the Durham Region, Jocelyne has gained over 18 years of litigation experience in Criminal and Mental Health Law, serving as both prosecutor and defence counsel. She also consults nationally and internationally on Mental Health and Drug Treatment Courts.
Jocelyne is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the California State Bar. She is a Past Chair and current member of the City of Kawartha Lakes Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee, and a member of both the Durham Region Law Association and the Criminal Lawyers Association.
Beyond her legal work, Jocelyne is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness and community support. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, she was honoured with the Champion of Mental Health Award by the Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR). This award celebrates her leadership, compassion, and dedication to advancing mental health advocacy in both her professional and personal life.
